Description

"Barbie", is Whitman #4601, was published in 1963 and was the very first set in the $#4600 series.  This is one of 5 rare Barbie sets that Whitman did in a different sort of packaging from 1963 to 1965. The sets featured heavy cardboard dolls with plastic stands.  The outfits and accessories came in folded panels on high gloss paper and they were the punch out type.  The box did not have a lid and the set came in a cellophane wrap. The doll in this set has a slight bubble at the knees and measures 10.25 inches tall.  I did have to replace the original stand. The costumes were gently played with but may have some creases.  This et is not complete but it does have some of the familiar fashions made for Barbie from the early 1960's  All of these 4600 series sets are very rare and highly collectable. The entire set is shown in the photos.   The small cover is just something I printed to ID this set.
Please see photos for content and condition. All of the paper dolls that I offer are from estates and from other homes.  I don't know the previous storage history.  My collection is kept in a smoke/pet free area of my home with a dehumidifier running 24/7.  I have a poor sense of smell at my age and am unable to detect odors.  People smoked way back when, so that could linger and I would not be aware of it.  I try and list all of the flaws with any paper dolls that I sell.
I only ship to the USA.  I usually take orders to the post office on Tuesday and Friday mornings by 10AM eastern time.
