Large Vintage STEIFF STUDIO ANTELOPE Display Animal Oryx Life Size 1960s Mohair

Description

This wonderful Steiff studio antelope is 6 feet tall from the bottom of her feet to the top of her horns. She measures five feet in length. She has thick black eyelashes, brown eyes and a felt-lined mouth. She's made of mohair with a narrow black mane of synthetic fur that runs down part of her back and a synthetic black tail.  She was made in the 1960s and is modeled after an oryx, one of the species of African antelopes with a striped and shaded pattern.
Her body has some areas of minor mohair thinning and loss. There is a small stitched repair on the top of her head,
between her horns, about 1" long, that was done very nicely.  She's experienced some fading over the course of her vintage life but overall still has warm
colors and markings. Please see photos for all details.
The last two photos on this listing show some areas of minor damage. The second-to-last photo shows a small circular spot of water discoloration on her left side that measures about 1 inch long and near it a very faint outline of discoloration on her neck.
The last photo shows a small area on her right side where she brushed against some kind of substance that left a slightly stiff residue.  It covers a few inches and is difficult to see.  It is most noticeable when you run your hand over that area and can feel some bristly spots.
She has plastic discs on the bottom of her feet to protect her feet and support her stance.  She is very sturdy and stands securely.  She measures about 53" in height from the bottom of her feet to the top of her head.
She has her button in ear and a small remnant of her yellow ear flag.
Overall, she's a beautiful vintage studio Steiff that makes an impressive
display piece.
